Bleach is about a teenager named Ichigo Kurosaki who can see spirits, one day he runs into a soul reaper named Rukia Kuchiki and everything changes, in a fight with a giant creature known as a hollow (Hollows are empty spirits, thus they are called Hollow) Rukia is injured and unable to kill it so she intends to give Ichigo half of her reiatsu (spirit energy) and instead gives him almost all of it including a sword (called a zanpakoutou) with which he destroys he destroys the hollow easily.
The next day he is surprised to see Rukia in his class, she tells him, that she can not return to Soul Society until she recovers her strength because he had taken most of it. Ichigo continues to fight hollows, while keeping Rukia at his home (secretly).
Later Rukia's superiors in soul society discover that she gave her reiatsu to a human and have her arrested and given a death sentence, taking her back to Soul Society. Ichigo along with his friends Chad, Uryuu and Orihime go to Soul Society to rescue Rukia only to find that they must face the 13 protection squads and their powerful captains, after this is done they find that the whole thin was set up by one of the captains Sosuke Auizen with the help of two others, the three of them leave and go to the world of the hollows called Hueco Mundo,where Aizen has created an army of superior hollows known as arrancar, which Ichigo and his friends must face with the help of Soul Society.
I love this series and if you are in the mood for a good anime and have the time I recommend Bleach.
